Commemorating The 6th Anniversary Of The Unveiling Of The George Devine Treloar Memorial Sculpture In Ballarat.

You are cordially invited to join us in commemorating the sixth anniversary of the unveiling of the George Devine Treloar Memorial Sculpture in Ballarat. This memorial honours the remarkable humanitarian efforts of George Devine Treloar, an Australian soldier and son of Ballarat, who played a pivotal role in resettling over 100,000 Christian refugees from their homeland across Pontus and Asia Minor to Northern Greece in the early 1920s.
Annual Memorial Ceremony
Date: Sunday, October 12, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM
Location: Major George Devine Treloar & Greek Refugee Child (Lemona) Sculpture, intersection of Sturt and Errard Streets, Ballarat Central, VIC.
The official Order of Proceedings will include speeches by esteemed guests, live performances by Pontiaki Estia musicians and dancers, and participants placing symbolic blooms provided by Merimna Oceania at the memorial site.
This is a modest and meaningful gesture in lieu of traditional floral wreaths and bouquets.
